Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
December 13, 2006 during the 61st session of the UN General Assembly with Resolution A / RES / 61/106. The Convention and its Optional Protocol were opened for signature on 30 March 2007. Until 14 May 2007 there were 92 signatures to the Convention, 50 signatures to the Optional Protocol and a ratification to the Convention. It is the first major human rights treaty of the 21st century and will come into force when it receives twenty ratifications. Instead, the Optional Protocol will need ten ratifications.
